These fine pitch metric nyloc nuts are manufactured to DIN 985 and are the low Type T. Nylocs are also known as prevailing torque or locking nuts. As they are tightened onto a bolt, the bolt will cut a thread into the nylon part, making it less likely to loosen. The fine pitch means that there are more threads per centimetre, giving more engagement and adjustability to the fixing. They need to be used in conjunction with the same pitch bolt. Typically fitted with a spanner or ratchet with socket. We recommend that anti-galling measures are taken on installation of stainless steel variants of these items.

Slotted or split beam type hexagon all metal locking nut . Manufactured in the UK with the Aerotight trademark. Undersize threaded sections on top portion of nut mean that when tightened into position the undersize section is forced outward creating high friction and a more secure 'locked' fitment. A locking nut for use in higher temperatures where a locking nylon ring nut would be unsuitable.

Prevailing Torque Nuts are a type of all metal locking nut. Designed to lock and resist vibration or shock. Part of the top threads on the nut deform to create a locking action by increased friction, meaning they will not spin freely and torque via a spanner would be needed to fit and remove - hence the name Prevailing Torque. An hexagon nut with incorporated flange, to DIN 6923. The flange offers protection for the bolted component where the driving tool may otherwise scratch it's surface. The flange also lessens the need to use a washer. This particular version has serrations on the base. A non-serrated variant is also available.

Hex nuts manufactured to DIN 936 are a low type hex nut. Their height is between a full nut (DIN 934) and a thin/half nut (DIN 439). They can also be known as thin nuts or jam nuts and are often used in conjunction with other nuts as a lock nut. The slim flat profile of these hex nuts makes them useful where space is limited or where there is only a few threads of a bolt to engage with.

A slotted, castellated or castle nut gets its name from the slot's resemblance to the crenellations of a typical castle. These nuts are usually paired with a split pin or R-clip to form a positive locking device.

Shear nuts are a permanent high security fastener that do not require specialist tooling to fit. They consist of a threaded cone section with a hexagonal head at the top. The hexagonal unthreaded part of the nut is designed to shear off as it is tightened at a pre-determined torque setting. This leaves behind the tamper proof cone which is very difficult to remove as there is no drive or grip. Great for uses where a permanent anti-vandal fixing is needed and used in schools and hospitals as well as the fencing industry and car industry.

Counter Nut also known as a Pal Nut, are a stamped nuts made from sheet metal. They are designed to fit over a normal nut and lock it into place by using a series of protruding flanges that grip the host nut securely. Mainly used in conjunction with a standard hexagon nut. Manufactured to DIN 7967.

Metric Cage Nuts, also known as Captive Nuts or Clip Nuts. The captive nut (usually square in shape), is enclosed in a surrounding cage ready for engaging with a screw later in the assembly process. Due to the 'floating' nature of the nut in the cage, they can be used for slightly adjusting any alignment issues during assembly Perfect for use in the mounting rails of equipment racks such as Data Cabinets.

Designed for use when woodworking, providing a threaded insert once fitted. For use on both soft and hard woods, simply drill out a pilot hole of the correct size, hammer into place to give a receiving threaded insert wherever needed. The design incorporates four teeth or prongs for biting into the workpiece. A2 Stainless Steel is suitable for outdoor use with such items as garden furnishings or childrens play equipment. Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) are generally for indoor use or where corrosion is not a concern.
